THE THEME

It is an exciting time for technology leaders, but also one with in-built and shifting challenges. Key to an organisation’s success and competitive edge is in creating pioneering pathways to digital transformation as well as robust ways to deal with security.

How can companies become more agile and remain secure while evolving through incumbent systems? What are the transformational cloud tools and AI game changers you need to know about? What are the incoming regulatory frameworks you need to know about?

Current industry challenges in leadership: how do we achieve buy-in from non tech leaders; what are the upcoming threats within fintech cybersecurity; how do we create the network capacity safe from incoming threats. Data gathering and sharing can improve fintech products by creating multi-vendor portals and products but can also lead to breaches. The use of AI can improve offerings while also learning (and perpetuating) illegal bias against underserved groups.

We invite you to come and discuss, network and share knowledge with industry leaders, technologists and peers.

In addition, the CxO round-tables will be featured in IT/Finance publications across the globe

WHERE AND WHEN?

3rd October during the NetEvents Global IT Summit in San Jose, CA

8:40 am – 1:00 pm NetEvents Global IT Summit—morning conference sessions
1:00 – 2:00 pm Lunch
2:10 – 2:20 pm Coffee & informal networking with industry peers
2:20 – 3:20 pm CxO Round Table I—Secure Messaging for the Enterprise: What You Need to Know

Secure messaging needs to be a top priority for enterprises. It’s about time: With so much attention being directed toward blocking malware and phishing hacks delivered via email, messaging has been neglected by many CIO’s and CISO’s.

This round table discussion will explore questions regarding how secure are messaging applications? After all, how secure are they, actually, against hackers? We’ll talk about encryption and authentication on the client side. We’ll talk about records retention, including data backup and policy compliance. We’ll talk about integration with mobile device management, and the ability to remotely disable and wipe applications when employees leave, or when devices are lost/stolen. We’ll talk about content exfiltration, always a concern with communications technology. And we’ll talk about detecting and blocking malware, given that many secure messaging platforms allow file transfers. That’s only the start, however. A key topic is shadow IT. Too many organizations have been slow to adopt secure messaging, leading well-meaning employees to turn to consumer software like of Skype.

WhatsApp, or even Facebook Messenger. Even where secure messaging is available, employees might turn to consumer apps – without permission – to talk to customers or partners, or to enable messaging on non-secure devices. This creates a pervasive enterprise security threat, and one that’s often simply invisible and hard to address.

The round table will conclude with a brief discussion of emerging secure messaging apps, many of which offer comprehensive solutions to many of these problems – when enterprises choose to stop ignoring the problem.

3:30 – 4:10 pm CxO Round Table II—The Biggest Challenges and Biggest Opportunities for Digital Transformation

Businesses that successful reinvent themselves for the new digital era will flourish. Businesses that won’t adapt – or can’t adapt – will perish. That doesn’t mean digital transformation is cut-and-dry. There are countless ways to change; some will lead to success, and others may miss the mark, wasting time, money, and other resources.

This panel discuss will look at both the pitfalls and goldmines in digital transformation. We’ll talk about cybersecurity, and the risks of initiatives that can expose data to hackers. We’ll talk about Big Data and analytics, and the best uses of customer, transaction, and logistics data to cut costs and delight the customer. We’ll talk about machine learning, and how AI can determine patterns and identify anomalies – and what to do with those insights. We’ll talk about the latest methodologies for cloud-native software development, and how microservices and other emerging architectures are enabling rapid application deployment. We’ll talk about the Internet of Things and 5G wireless, and the new types of problems they create – and can solve. We’ll talk about new computing architectures and network paradigms required to enable those changes.

Digital transformation will not be fast. It will not be cheap. It will not be simple. And success is not assured, especially if you are out-innovated by a savvy competitor. When to start? Now – if it’s not already too late. Let’s get to work!

4:10 – 4:50 pm pm Coffee Break, ‘Open Meeting’ time for informal networking with industry peers
4:50 – 5:30 pm CxO Round Table III—The Dark Web: Fight Back to Protect Your Networks & Data

If the information is on the Internet, it’s on the Dark Web. If the information has been stolen from unencrypted cloud file shares, corporate data breaches, or credit-card skimmers, it’s on the Dark Web. If the information has been painstakingly pieced together from small bits of information, that adds up to the potential identity theft – or fodder for sophisticated spearphishing attacks.

As we’ve seen from huge breaches like those from Equifax, Marriott, and Yahoo, data about you, your family, your company, and your family will get out there – and will be offered for sale. The buyers will include criminals who want to steal your money, and industrial hackers who want to steal privileged-user credentials, take over your accounts, and then compromise corporate systems.

You can’t prevent third parties from losing your data. Therefore, this session will bring together the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and even a white-hat hacker to show how bad actors will use this data to attack your organization, and what organizations can do to prevent account takeover (ATO) using those stolen credentials. You can indeed fight back to protect your business, customers, and stakeholders. Here’s how.

5:30 – 6:00 pm ‘Open Meeting’ time for informal networking with industry peers
